Print retrospective show for Sam Nhlengethwa at the Wits Art Museum in Johannesburg

Leeto, a survey of Sam Nhlengethwa’s print work from 1978-2018, is on show at the Wits Art Museum (11 June – 17 August). Named for the eTswana/seSotho word for ‘journey’, the exhibition explores Nhlengethwa’s use of printmaking as a means for self-expression, collaboration and intellectual engagement, underpinned by the theme of jazz (a recurring motif in his practice). The exhibition traces the ongoing artistic footsteps of the renowned artist, as the exhibition title suggests, and poses the question: What else can Nhlengethwa’s images offer us?
