A New Chapter in the Montreux Poster Legacy

As a festival that has always celebrated art in its many forms, Montreux has invited some of the world’s most visionary artists – from Keith Haring, Andy Warhol to David Bowie and Damien Hirst – to create its official festival poster each year. Now, this tradition arrives in Africa.

The inaugural Montreux Jazz Festival Franschhoek poster is by celebrated South African artist Sam Nhlengethwa, whose lifelong love of jazz and mastery of collage and colour perfectly capture the spirit of ‘When Montreux Meets Africa’.

This poster represents legendary double bassist Charles Mingus, whom Sam captured in reflection some 15 years ago.
