From the series Die Vier Hoeke (The Four Corners) stemming from prison gang terminology: the four corners referring both to the physical space of a cell and to the law that governs life inside it.
The photographs document life in one of South Africa's most overcrowded and gang-controlled prisons: exercise yards, cells packed beyond capacity, visiting rooms without contact.
