Goodman Gallery brings leading artists from the African continent, the diaspora and beyond to the South of France for the season, as it returns to Saint Paul de Vence for a residency at Galerie Podgorny. Situated opposite the iconic La Colombe d’Or Hotel and Restaurant, Galerie Podgorny is internationally recognised for its focus on modern and contemporary sculpture, creating a natural dialogue between the two galleries.
On view from mid-July to late August 2026, the exhibition unfolds as an evolving presentation, with works rotating throughout the residency.

Franco-Egyptian artist Ghada Amer's embroidered canvases continue her sustained investigation into painting, gesture and desire, ahead of a major solo exhibition at Es Baluard Museu d'Art Contemporani Palma in 2027. Kapwani Kiwanga presents Cascade (2024), a ceramic wall relief reflecting her ongoing research into cosmologies, systems of knowledge and the built environment, following a landmark year that has included BLEED, a major site-specific commission for the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Joan Miró Prize exhibition Changing States at the Fundació Joan Miró, and participation in the 25th Biennale of Sydney.

William Kentridge presents a selection of bronze sculptures alongside recent charcoal drawings, including new works produced during the making of L'Orfeo, his acclaimed staging of Monteverdi's opera for Glyndebourne Festival. Also on view are works from his celebrated Self-Portrait as a Coffee Pot series, presented at the Institute for the Politics of Representation at the Arsenale, curated by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, during the 2024 Venice Biennale, and subsequently released worldwide as a nine-part film series on MUBI following previews at the Toronto and BFI London Film Festivals.
Yinka Shonibare's presentation brings together the hand-painted bronze Fabric Bronze V (2025) and the textile work Nature Works (Diamond Mine, Angola) (2025), extending his exploration of colonial histories, ecology and the circulation of materials. The presentation follows his participation in the 2026 Venice Biennale through Chorus, presented by the Guest Artists Space Foundation, and precedes the unveiling of his Wind Sculpture commission for the Queen Elizabeth II National Memorial in London in 2027.

Works on paper by Alexander Calder introduce an intergenerational dialogue around abstraction and material experimentation. Calder's gouache and ink painting Cercles (1974) echoes a language of movement and balance that would later find new expression in Brazilian Concrete and Neo-Concrete practices.
The presentation will continue to evolve throughout the residency, incorporating recent and iconic paintings by Winston Branch, Kate Gottgens, Atta Kwami, Misheck Masamvu, Cassi Namoda and Clive van den Berg that further extend the exhibition's conversations across generations, geographies and artistic traditions.
The residency forms part of Goodman Gallery's wider summer programme across France, which also includes a presentation at Pierre Yovanovitch Mobilier in Paris featuring works by William Kentridge, Ghada Amer, Kapwani Kiwanga and Pélagie Gbaguidi, as well as a major outdoor sculpture installation by William Kentridge and Yinka Shonibare at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes. Together, the three presentations highlight the gallery's continued engagement with leading cultural spaces and collectors across France while foregrounding artists whose practices are shaping contemporary art on the international stage.
