‘biko.nomzamo’ expands the ‘Biko dialogues’ series (2018-ongoing) by putting Black consciousness theorist and leader Steve Biko in dialogue with Nomzamo Winnie Mandela. In this algorithmically generated dialogue the two figures engage in a complex dialogue in which the same receipt is printed twice by two separate printers enabling possibilities of over-writing, obfuscation and realignment.

‘multipolar calibration model’ combines 3 globes in a non-aligned orientation, each globe’s north and south axis points in a different direction. This model presents an image of the world disconnected from the hierarchy of a single north-south relation and suggests multiple orientations across many worlds. In this three world model there are no correct positions, the artwork can be repositioned in many configurations, calibrated to suit the desires of different worlds.

‘studio notes’ is an ongoing series of collaged drawings, diagrams and archive images made in the process of research and studio practice. These drawings are reflexive notes which inform the work being produced but also go places that the artwork cannot. ‘studio notes I, II, III & IV’ are the very first collages in this series of drawings reflecting on philosophies of uncertainty and transformation in processes of world-making from below.
